Gracie a sweet goldendoodle and we at Best Friends are happy to announce her as our July Camper of the Month. Gracie came to us as a puppy, too young to join camp. She quickly became our favorite "Daycare Boarder" loving her playtimes with associates as much as we loved spending time with this sweet, sometimes shy little girl. As we all got to know and love Grace we watched her grow up to become a little fireball, full of energy, smiling, and ready to join her camp friends. Congrats to Gracie!

Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Friday, June 25, will be celebrated by pet lovers nationwide as the 11th annual "Take Your Dog to Work" Day. A growing number of companies allow pets in the workplace for this special occasion.

If you decide to take your dog to work, the following equiptment will make the day easier on your pet and your co-workers:
   * A baby gate, so you can restict your pet to the office or cubical
   * A waterbowl and some treats, plus a plastic mat for under the bowl to prevent stains on the office floor
   * A bed or sleeping mat and a couple familiar toys
   * Plastic baggies for cleaning up after your pet!

Even if your pet is extrememly well behaved, be sure to check with y our co-workers about any concerns you may have. A neighbor with severe allergies or overwhelming fear of dogs won't appreciate the gentlest canine.

Matter of Trust

Best Friends Pet Care has been doing our very best to help clean up the environment after the disheartening oil spill we have recently experienced. We have collected clean dog hair in our grooming shop one box at a time to send off to the Matter of Trust organization, who are working very hard to make hair mats to absorb oil in our oceans.

Luna is the biggest sweetheart! She always a smile on her face and plenty of hugs to give. She has the ability to brighten your day the moment you see her. All of her fellow campers love her big fluffy coat and the wonderful addition she has been to our big Doggie DayCamp family.

Bauer has been coming to our daycamp since he was a pup. True to the traits of a lab, Bauer's favorite pastimes are splashing in the water bowls and dunking his entire head in the buckets.

Hold on Bauer! Summer's almost here and you know what that means: pool party!

It's an activity that many of our campers love, which includes the popular rubber ducky doggy dipping game. Although Bauer has many pals in camp, his BFF is Spencer the excitable lab, exactly his age, who was our camper of the month, just this past February. The two can celebrate together, once again as we say: "Congratulations Bow-wow-wer!"

Puppy Love Cookies

This is our friend Tabatha. She is a little girl with big dreams.

She makes homemade peanutbutter dog cookies to raise money to help animals in need.

Currently she is raising money for the

Protectors of Animals and Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary.

2nd Annual Pawsta Dinner

The Rocky Hill Park & Recreation Dept is having their annual Pawsta Dinner on Saturday, April 24th from 6pm-10pm.  In addition to dinner, their will be a DJ, raffles, and door prizes.  And, the best part is that all the proceeds go to supporting the Rocky Hill Dog Park.

Best Friends Pet Care in Rocky Hill had a meeting of pug-loving minds!

On March 27th, 2010 Best Friends hosted a small dog meet-up, as we have done in the past. However, this group was especially entertaining as it was all pugs! An affiliate of the Pug Rescue group attended, as did about 20 pugs and their families. The pugs were excited to meet new friends, some even wearing their best outfits! Future pug meet-ups are being planned.

By then end of class many dogs have learned basic commands such as sit, down, come, stay, watch, leave it, settle and loosh leash walking. This class also covers common problem areas such as potty training, chewing, biting, and digging.

Bikers Against Animal Cruelty Bowling Fundraiser

On April 3rd, starting at 1pm, Bikers Against Animal Cruelty will be holding a fundraiser event at Wallingford Bowl. You can get a whopping 3 hours of bowling for just $20 which includes shoe rental! Just $10 for kids 12 and under (must be accompanied by an adult). There will be drink specials, prizes for the top bowlers and special games! Its fun for the whole family!!!



Proceeds benefit victims of Animal Cruelty and Neglect. Bikers Against Animal Cruelty, Inc. is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) non profit organization. 100% of all proceeds benefit the animals in need.

 Meet Benny! A native dog to Ireland, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier was bred for herding and hunting, they are also known for their boundless energy and devotion to their families. Our Best Friend Benny is always bouncing around camp as if he was still a puppy. He’s a great addition to our camp, we always love when he is visiting!

March's Camper of the Month

Nigel was the unanimous choice for March's Camper of the Month here a Best Friends Pet Care . Not only do the counselors enjoy having him in camp. but they swear they can hear the other campers saying, "Nigel's Here!" whenever he comes bouncing into camp. Nigel is a beautiful Austrailian Shepherd who loves a good rough-and-tumble playtime as well as a cozy snuggle with his camp pals.

February Camper of the Month

When we first met Spencer we knew this yellow lab could definitely give "Marley" a run for his money. Spencer has always been a happy yet wild pup, always ready to expend some of that energy in daycamp. Since then he has cerainly grown up and has (thankfully) never lost his aversion to following all the rules; on the edge of naughtiness. Even though Spencer is our "February" camper of the month, everyday is a summer pool party for Spencer. When Spencer is around a full water bucket, it doesn't stay full for long. Spencer will get all of his friends splishin' and splashin' and having a waterpark blast.
And isn't that what Doggie Day Camp is all about?
